Cabo Matapalo

Cabo Matapalo is the tip of the Osa Peninsula where Amanecer is located on top of a hill. Cabo Matapalo is 40 min. from Puerto Jimenez, at the mouth of the Golfo Dulce. Matapalo is named after the magnificent strangler fig that populates its forests. This area is known for the amazing concentration of wildlife combined with beautiful beaches and coves. Three world class surf breaks are just minutes away from our property.

We suggest flying into Puerto Jimenez with Sansa from San Jose and renting a 4WD car which is a must to get to us. Renting a car in advance online will get you the best rate and then you can pick it up near the airport. If you like driving, you can already rent a car in San Jose and take the Pan-American Highway down the Pacific coast to the Osa Peninsula. We are approx. 6.5 hours from San Jose’s International Airport. It is a beautiful drive on good roads. While in town make plans to buy all your groceries at the local supermarket BM. We are 19 km from the village center, which takes 40 minutes on unpaved roads. Upon booking we can send you a location ping on google maps.
